What do I need to do?

You need to predict the score of each match before kick-off.

Do I need to predict every match?

No. You do not need to predict every match to appear on the leaderboards.
However, the more matches you predict, the more chances you have to earn points.
For certain prizes, such as the R1 Million Perfect Prediction Prizes, you must predict every match in the relevant stage or round correctly.

Can I skip matches?

Yes. You can skip matches, but you will receive 0 points for any match where you do not submit a prediction.

Can I have more than one account?

No. Users are not allowed to create or use multiple accounts.
Each user may only participate with one account. Multiple accounts may result in disqualification and prize forfeiture.

2. Prize Terms & Wagering Requirements

Is the Soccer World Cup Predictor free to enter?

Yes. The Soccer World Cup Predictor is free to participate in.
You do not need to deposit to make predictions, join the Global Pool, compete on leaderboards, or take part in the competition.

Do I need to deposit to play?

No. You do not need to deposit to play. It is Free + once you lock in your first match you receive a R10 Free Bet.

Does Cash Prizes have wagering requirements?

If you have at least deposited R100 or more you will have 0 wagering on your cash prizes.
If you deposited less than R100 your cash prize will have a 20x wagering.

What happens if I have not deposited at least R100?

If you win a cash leaderboard prize and you have not made a minimum lifetime deposit of R100 at the time of prize allocation or payout, your prize will be subject to a 20x wagering requirement.
This means you will need to wager the prize amount 20 times before the prize or eligible winnings can be withdrawn.

What does 20x wagering mean?

A 20x wagering requirement means you must wager the prize amount 20 times before the prize or eligible winnings can be withdrawn.

Example:
You win a R1 000 cash leaderboard prize.
You have not made a minimum lifetime deposit of R100.
Your prize is therefore subject to a 20x wagering requirement.

What counts as a lifetime deposit?

A lifetime deposit means successful real-money deposits made into your play.co.za account.
To receive a cash leaderboard prize with a 0x wagering requirement, your total lifetime deposits must be at least R100.
Bonus funds, Free Bets, promotional credits, cancelled deposits, reversed deposits, or refunded deposits do not count toward the R100 minimum lifetime deposit requirement.

You earn points based on how accurate your prediction is.

What is a correct score?

A correct score means you predicted the exact final score of the match.

Example:
You predict 2-1. The match ends 2-1. You earn 2 points.

What is a correct result?

A correct result means you predicted the correct match outcome, but not the exact score.

Example:
You predict 2-1. The match ends 1-0. You still picked the correct winning team, so you earn 1 point.

What is an incorrect result?

An incorrect result means your predicted outcome did not match the actual result.

Example:
You predict Team A to win, but Team B wins or the match ends in a draw.
You earn 0 points.

How are draw predictions scored?

If you predict a draw and the match ends in a draw, you can earn points.

Example:
You predict 1-1. The match ends 1-1. You earn 2 points for the correct score.
If you predict 1-1 and the match ends 0-0, you earn 1 point for the correct result because you correctly predicted a draw.

Can I earn points if I get the winner right but the score wrong?

Yes. If you pick the correct winning team but not the exact score, you earn 1 point.

Can I earn points if I get the goal numbers right but the result wrong?

No.

Example:
You predict 2-1, but the match ends 1-2.
The goal numbers are similar, but the winning team is wrong, so you earn 0 points.

What does CR mean?

CR means Correct Result.
This is when you predicted the correct outcome, but not the exact score.

What does CS mean?

CS means Correct Score.
This is when you predicted the exact score of the match.

What does TP mean?

TP means Total Points.
This is your total score on the leaderboard.

4. Making Predictions

How do I make a prediction?

Click Make Your Picks.
From there, you will be able to choose which stage you want to predict games for and enter your score predictions for the available matches.

When must I submit my prediction?

Predictions must be submitted before the match kicks off.
Once the match has started, predictions for that match will close.

Can I change my prediction after submitting it?

You can change your prediction before kick-off, as long as the prediction window for that match is still open.
Once the match has started, your prediction is locked and cannot be changed.

What happens if I forget to submit a prediction?

You will receive 0 points for that match.

Will I get a reminder before matches start?

Where available, the platform may send reminders before selected matches, but it remains your responsibility to submit predictions before kick-off.

Can I see other users' predictions?

No. You will only be able to see your own picks.
Other users' predictions will not be visible unless play.co.za decides to share them after the leaderboard has been concluded.

5. Match Result Rules

Does the score count after 90 minutes or after extra time?

Only the official match result at the end of 90 minutes in regulation time, including stoppage or injury time, will count for prediction purposes.
Extra time and penalty shootouts do not count.

6. How Pools Work

What are Pools?

Pools are a way to compete against friends, family, colleagues, or your own group for bragging rights.
You can compete inside your pool while still being part of the Global Pool.

Are Pools for prizes?

Pools are mainly for bragging rights between friends and family.
Official competition prizes are linked to the Global Pool, stage leaderboards, overall leaderboard, and prize structures displayed on the platform.

Am I automatically added to the Global Pool?

Yes. Anyone who saves a pick is automatically added to the Global Pool.

Can I be in a private pool and the Global Pool at the same time?

Yes. You can compete in your own pool and still be part of the Global Pool.
Your pool lets you compare yourself against your friends, while the Global Pool shows where you rank against everyone.

Can I see where my friends are on the Global Leaderboard?

Yes. Inside your pool, you can compete against your friends and also view where they are positioned on the Global Leaderboard.

How do I create a pool?

Go to Pools and select Create Pool.

You will need to create:
Pool name, Pool password
You can then share the pool name and password with your friends so they can join.

How many pools can I create?

Each user can only create one pool.

Can my pool be public or private?

Yes. A pool can be public or private.
Private pools are best for friends, family, colleagues, or invited groups.

How do my friends join my pool?

Your friends must go to Join Pool.
They will search for your pool name. Once they find it, they will enter the password you shared with them and join the pool.

Where will my joined pool appear?

Once you join a pool, it will be added to the top menu bar in the predictor, alongside the Global Pool.
This makes it easy to switch between the Global Pool and your joined pool.

Can I join more than one pool?

The platform may limit how many pools a user can join.
If pool limits apply, they will be shown in the Pools section.

Do my picks change between pools?

No. Your saved picks apply to the competition.
Your points can then reflect on the Global Pool, your joined pool, and relevant leaderboards.

7. Share of R30 Million Prize

What is the Share of R30 Million Prize?

The Share of R30 Million Prize is a major prize pool linked to the first three group-stage stages of the tournament.
To qualify, you need to predict at least 30 correct scores out of 72 matches.

Which matches count toward the R30 Million Prize?

The prize applies to the first three group-stage stages:

Together, these stages make up 72 matches.

How do I qualify for the Share of R30 Million Prize?

No. The 30 correct scores do not need to be consecutive.

Can my points change after they are awarded?

Yes. Points may change if an official result is corrected or if there is a scoring adjustment.

12. Prize Payments and Verification

How do I know if I have won a prize?

Winners will appear on the relevant leaderboard once the leaderboard has been concluded.
Prize winners may also be contacted through the platform or their registered contact details.

When are prizes paid?

What do I need to do?

You need to predict the final score of each match before kick-off.

Example:
You predict Team A 22 - Team B 17.
If the match ends with that exact score, you have predicted the correct score and earn maximum points.

Do I need to predict every match?

No. You do not need to predict every match to appear on the leaderboards.
However, the more matches you predict, the more chances you have to earn points.

Can I skip matches?

Yes. You can skip matches, but you will receive 0 points for any match where you do not submit a prediction.

Can I have more than one account?

No. Users are not allowed to create or use multiple accounts.
Each user may only participate with one account. Multiple accounts may result in disqualification and prize forfeiture.

2. How Points Work

How do I earn points?

You earn points based on how accurate your prediction is. Each tournament may award different point values, but the categories are:

Correct Score (CS) - You predicted the exact final score.
Correct Result (CR) - You predicted the correct outcome (win/loss/draw) but not the exact score.
Margin Points - Awarded when your predicted score is close to the actual score (within the margin grace).
Incorrect Result - 0 points.

What is a Correct Score?

A Correct Score means you predicted the exact final score of the match.

Example:
You predict 22-17. The match ends 22-17. You earn Correct Score points.

What is a Correct Result?

A Correct Result means you predicted the correct match outcome (which team wins, or a draw) but not the exact score.

Example:
You predict 22-17 (Team A wins). The match ends 15-10 (Team A wins). You still picked the correct winning team, so you earn Correct Result points.

What are Margin Points?

Margin Points reward predictions that are close to the actual score, even if they are not exact.

Each tournament has a Margin Grace value. If the combined difference between your predicted scores and the actual scores falls within the margin grace, you earn Margin Points.

Example (with a margin grace of 7):
You predict 24-17. The match ends 22-14. The differences are 2 (home) and 3 (away), totalling 5. Since 5 is within the margin grace of 7, you earn Margin Points.

Note: Margin Points are not available in every tournament. If disabled for a tournament, they will not appear on the leaderboard.

What is an incorrect result?

An incorrect result means your predicted outcome did not match the actual result.

Example:
You predict Team A to win, but Team B wins or the match ends in a draw.
You earn 0 points.

How are draw predictions scored?

If you predict a draw and the match ends in a draw, you can earn points.

Example:
You predict 15-15. The match ends 15-15. You earn Correct Score points.
If you predict 15-15 and the match ends 12-12, you earn Correct Result points because you correctly predicted a draw.

Can I earn points if I get the winner right but the score wrong?

Yes. You will earn Correct Result points. You may also earn Margin Points if the tournament supports them and your prediction is close enough to the actual score.

Can I earn points if I get the scores right but the result wrong?

No.

Example:
You predict 22-17, but the match ends 17-22.
The scores are swapped, meaning the winning team is wrong, so you earn 0 points.

What do CR, CS, MP, TMD, and TP mean on the leaderboard?

CR = Correct Results - the number of times you predicted the correct outcome.
CS = Correct Scores - the number of times you predicted the exact score.
MP = Margin Points - bonus points for predictions close to the actual score.
TMD = Total Margin Difference - the combined difference between your predicted scores and the actual scores across all matches.
TP = Total Points - your total score on the leaderboard.

Note: MP and TMD columns may be hidden if the tournament does not use Margin Points.

Do point values change between tournaments?

Yes. Each tournament may have its own point values for Correct Score, Correct Result, Margin Points, and Margin Grace.
The point values for the current tournament are displayed in the tournament details.

3. Making Predictions

How do I make a prediction?

Click Make Your Picks.
If the tournament has multiple rounds, you can select which round to predict. Then enter your score predictions for the available matches.

When must I submit my prediction?

Predictions must be submitted before the match kicks off.
Once the match has started, predictions for that match will close.

Can I change my prediction after submitting it?

You can change your prediction before kick-off, as long as the prediction window for that match is still open.
Once the match has started, your prediction is locked and cannot be changed.

What happens if I forget to submit a prediction?

You will receive 0 points for that match.

Will I get a reminder before matches start?

Where available, the platform may send reminders before selected matches, but it remains your responsibility to submit predictions before kick-off.

Can I see other users' predictions?

No. You will only be able to see your own picks.
Other users' predictions will not be visible unless play.co.za decides to share them after the leaderboard has been concluded.

4. Match Result Rules

Which score counts for predictions?

Only the official match result at the end of regulation time will count for prediction purposes.
For rugby, this is the score after 80 minutes including stoppage or injury time.
For soccer, this is the score after 90 minutes including stoppage or injury time.
Extra time and penalty shootouts do not count.

Do penalty shootouts or extra time count?

No. Penalty shootouts and extra time do not count.
Only the regulation-time result will be used for prediction scoring.

What happens if a match is postponed?

If a match is postponed, predictions may remain valid for the rescheduled match.

What happens if a match is cancelled or abandoned?

If a match is cancelled and not replayed, the match may be voided for prediction and leaderboard purposes.
If a match is abandoned, the result will be handled according to the verified official match outcome used by the platform.

What happens if the official result changes later?

If the official result is corrected or updated after the match, leaderboard points may be updated according to the verified result used by the platform.

5. How Pools Work

What are Pools?

Pools are a way to compete against friends, family, colleagues, or your own group.
You can compete inside your pool while still being part of the Global Pool.

Am I automatically added to the Global Pool?

Yes. Anyone who saves a pick is automatically added to the Global Pool for that tournament.

What about Round Pools?

Some tournaments have separate leaderboards for each round or stage. If a tournament has round pools, you are automatically added when you submit picks for matches in that round.

Can I be in multiple pools at the same time?

Yes. You can be in the Global Pool, round pools, and your own custom pools simultaneously.
Your pool lets you compare yourself against your friends, while the Global Pool shows where you rank against everyone.

How do I create a pool?

Go to Leaderboards and select Create Pool.

You will need to set:
A pool name and optionally a password.
You can then share the pool name and password with your friends so they can join.

How do my friends join my pool?

Your friends must go to Join Pool and search for your pool name.
Once they find it, they will enter the password (if set) and join the pool.

Do my picks change between pools?

No. Your saved picks apply to the entire tournament.
Your points reflect across all pools and leaderboards you are part of.

6. Leaderboards & Prizes

How do leaderboards work?

Leaderboards rank all participants by their total points. The Global Pool leaderboard covers the entire tournament.
If the tournament has multiple rounds, there may also be separate round leaderboards where you compete for that round's prizes.

How do I improve my leaderboard ranking?

Submit predictions for as many matches as possible and aim for correct scores.
Correct scores earn the most points. If the tournament uses Margin Points, getting close to the actual score also helps.

Are there prizes for round leaderboards?

Some tournaments offer prizes for each round leaderboard. Where round prizes are available, they will be displayed on the platform.
Not all tournaments have round prizes. Smaller tournaments may only have an overall prize pool.

Can I win more than one prize?

Yes. You can win prizes across different rounds and on the overall leaderboard.
However, you are not allowed to use multiple accounts.

When are leaderboard winners decided?

Winners are decided after all matches in the relevant round or tournament have been completed and the leaderboard has been concluded.

7. Prize Terms & Wagering

Do I need to deposit to play?

No. The Sport Predictor is free to play. You do not need to deposit to make predictions or compete on leaderboards.

Do cash prizes have wagering requirements?

If you have deposited at least R100 in total, you will have 0x wagering on your cash prizes.
If you have deposited less than R100, your cash prize will be subject to a 20x wagering requirement.

What does 20x wagering mean?

A 20x wagering requirement means you must wager the prize amount 20 times before the prize or eligible winnings can be withdrawn.

Example:
You win a R1 000 cash prize and have not deposited R100.
R1 000 x 20 = R20 000.
You must wager R20 000 before the prize or eligible winnings can be withdrawn.

What counts as a lifetime deposit?

Successful real-money deposits made into your play.co.za account.
Bonus funds, Free Bets, promotional credits, cancelled deposits, reversed deposits, or refunded deposits do not count toward the R100 minimum.

Do I need to be verified before receiving a prize?

Yes. You need to be fully verified through KYC/FICA before receiving any prize.
If you cannot complete the required verification, you may not be able to receive your prize.

When are prizes paid?

Prizes will be paid within 30 days after the relevant leaderboard has been concluded, but payment will be made as soon as possible.

8. Free Bets

What is a Free Bet?

A Free Bet is a promotional betting credit that may be awarded as a prize.
Different Free Bets may have different rules, so you should always read the Free Bet terms before using it.

How does a Free Bet work?

Do I keep the Free Bet stake if I win?

No. You only keep the winnings from the Free Bet.
The original Free Bet amount is not returned.

Can a Free Bet be withdrawn as cash?

No. A Free Bet cannot be withdrawn as cash.
Only qualifying winnings from a successful Free Bet may be withdrawable, depending on the Free Bet rules.

9. Tie-Breakers

Why are tie-breakers needed?

Tie-breakers are used when two or more players finish with the same number of total points on a leaderboard.

How are ties resolved?

The following tie-breaker order is used:

1. Total Points (highest first)
2. Total Margin Difference (lowest first, meaning closer predictions rank higher)
3. Most Correct Scores
4. Earliest participation (first to join ranks higher)

If a tournament does not use Margin Points, the Total Margin Difference step is skipped.

If I tie for a prize, do I share it?

If a shared prize rule applies, tied users may share the prize.
If tie-breakers apply, the final positions will be decided using the tie-breaker rules above.

10. My Progress

What is My Progress?

My Progress is your personal dashboard for tracking your prediction performance throughout the tournament.

What can I see in My Progress?

Your My Progress page shows:
Total points, Correct scores, Correct results, Current round ranking (if applicable), and Overall ranking.
If the tournament has a Grand Prize, you will also see your progress toward the required number of correct scores.

How often is My Progress updated?

My Progress updates after match results have been confirmed and points have been calculated.

Why did my ranking change?

Your ranking can change as more match results are confirmed and other users earn points.

Can my points change after they are awarded?

Yes. Points may change if an official result is corrected or if there is a scoring adjustment.

11. Prize Payments & Verification

How do I know if I have won a prize?

Winners will appear on the relevant leaderboard once the leaderboard has been concluded.
Some prizes may be claimed directly through the app, while others may be allocated manually. Prize winners may also be contacted through their registered contact details.

Do I need to verify my account to receive a prize?

Yes. You need to be fully verified through KYC/FICA before receiving a prize.
If you cannot complete the required verification, you may not be able to receive your prize.

When are prizes paid?

Prizes will be paid within 30 days after the relevant leaderboard has been concluded, but payment will be made as soon as possible.

Can I win more than one prize?
